ASUS Eee Top Provides an Inexpensive Touch Screen PC
By Dave Peterson | October 13, 2008

Every time I see some new touch screen or tablet PC, I’m tempted. But never quite enough to make the purchase. It always comes down to price versus, what would I do with it once the novelty wore off?
Now there’s a new piece of shiny tech to once again try to part me from my money with the promise of letting me run my fingers all over the screen with a purpose. The ASUS Eee Top desktop computer is an all in one unit with a 15.6″ single touch screen (no iPhone-like pinching or twisting allowed), and specs that are low for the average new computer, but reasonable for a member of the Eee family. It’s got a 1.6 GHz ATOM processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 160 GB of storage.
It’s not being offered in the United States yet, but if you’re in the UK, it’s available for pre-order from Clove Technology, for £340.42 (£399.99 inclusive of VAT). That points to a price in the $600 range should it wash up on American shores.

This is the device I have been waiting for. Most other all-in-one touchscreen PC’s cost upwards of $1,200. At about half the price…
this is awesome.
I plan to use one as a client for Maestro LSX (www.harmony-home.com OR http://www.media-maestro.com)
Pretty cool to have a touchscreen hanging in the kitchen or in the living room to:
Control iTunes or WMP remotely
Control lights, fans, drapery, etc
View my IP cameras, check the weather, browse the web…
Thank you Asus!
