Read&Go: eReader With a Nose For News
By Dave Peterson | April 17, 2008
French eBook fans are about to get a new favorite toy. Electronista reports that mobile service provider Orange is looking for 150 testers for Read&Go, their new network-connected e-paper device. Unlike the Kindle and most other readers, Read&Go is being positioned predominantly as a device for reading newspapers. Testers will have access to Le Monde, Le Parisien, Les Echos, L’Equipe and Télérama. The content is to be refreshed every hour from 6 AM to midnight across paired 3G and Wi-Fi networks. The device comes with 1 GB storage (compared to Kindle’s 256 MB), which comes loaded with 30 eBooks from Feedbooks, Médiatoon and Mango.
As I’ve mentioned before, I own a Kindle and love it. I’m pleased to see a new eReader hitting the market, and I’m looking forward to hearing what testers experience. If you’re in France and are interested in taking part in the two-month trial, more information is available here (French language site). The press release (in English) is here.
